We welcome committed researchers at all career stages
- Bachelors and Masters students looking to sharpen their research profile and gain first-hand experience can apply to the Student Research Internship program organised by IMPRS-CellDevoSys and DIPP. Applications to the internship program can be submitted here.
- The MPI-CBG has initiated rolling admissions for prospective PhD students who can apply through the IMPRS-CellDevoSys portal. It is recommended to simultaneously email hymanoffice@mpi-cbg.de with your CV, cover letter and reference supervisors.
- Postdocs can apply by directly emailing hymanoffice@mpi-cbg.de with your CV, cover letter and reference supervisors. Additionally, Postdocs can apply for fully funded fellowships, for a duration of 2 to 3 years, through the ELBE Postdoctoral Fellows Program.
Why Us? Why Dresden?
There are several reasons why you might want to consider joining our lab. First, Dresden is beautiful on all scales, sciences, culture, people, the whole package. The former East German city has transformed to become a hub for research and innovation. The TU Dresden has been re-designated as 1 of 11 German Universities of Excellence, a title it has held since 2012 and will hold till 2028. This speaks for the importance of the research happening here on the national and international level.
Dresden on the Elbe river
Part of this research hub is the Dresden community of researchers from various institutes, who have been pouring in their expertise and creativity to the melting pot known as “Biopolis Dresden”. The interdisciplinary collaboration between at least 11 labs in Dresden directly involved in Condensate Biology research has concentrated enough expertise and methodologies to reshape the understanding of compartmentalisation in cells and the consequences arising from it for cellular (dys)function. This makes Dresden a perfect place to learn about phase separation in biology. We have been part of it from the beginning, and the awards recognising our role in the field are a fair testament.
Last but not least, we have some serious fun in this lab.
